Conversion & Reverse Engineering

Reverse engineering to CAD

We model existing parts from your measurements, 3D scans or samples, so you have CAD where there was none.

The problem

A part is in production, or in the field, and there is no usable model or drawing for it. Replacing, changing or quoting it means starting from a physical sample.

What we do

  • Modeling from measurements and marked-up sketches
  • Modeling from 3D scan data (mesh or point cloud)
  • Design intent rebuilt as clean, editable features
  • Drawings created from the new models

What you get

  • Native SOLIDWORKS models
  • Drawings as required
  • Notes on assumptions made where data was missing

You own the deliverables, in native files, once paid. Your engineers review and approve all work.

Good fit when…

  • Parts exist with no drawings or models
  • You have scan data that needs to become editable CAD
  • A supplier part needs to be brought in-house

How it works

How a project runs

The full process
  1. Step 1: Scope

A call, then a written Statement of Work with scope, schedule and price.

  2. Step 2: Kickoff

You share standards, templates and files. We confirm the plan.

  3. Step 3: Work overnight

Send work at the end of your day. Review it at the start of the next.

  4. Step 4: Review weekly

Weekly alignment against the SOW. Anything off-scope is fixed free.

Questions about Reverse Engineering

Do you scan parts?

We work from measurements and scan data you provide. If you need scanning, we can talk through options during scoping.
